Vice President Robert Griffith serves residents in Division 2 on the MSWD Board of Directors. He was appointed to the seat in September 2022.
With a proven history of leadership and giving back to the community, Dir. Griffith previously served as a Desert Hot Springs Councilmember and as the Mayor Pro Tem. He also chaired the Desert Hot Springs Planning Commission and was President of the DHS Hotelier’s Association. Currently, he serves as President of the DHS Historical Society and is spearheading efforts to restore and open the famous DHS “Historic Rock House” to the public.
A Desert Hot Springs resident since 2012, he is the Managing Director of the El Morocco Inn & Spa. His extensive retail and financial services background and his experience as a small business owner have made him an asset to the local business community. For his outstanding work in the hospitality field, in 2019, the Greater Palm Springs Convention and Visitors Bureau, now known as Visit Greater Palm Springs, bestowed Dir. Griffith with an Oasis Award in the small hotel general manager category.
With a passion for helping others, he volunteers his spare time in numerous ways, including being a member of the Friends of the DHS Library and the Spa City Paletteers. Previously, he has volunteered at the Palm Springs International Film Festival as a driver in the transportation department, the Kittyland Cat Rescue, and the Valley Animal Center in Fresno.
He holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Global Business Management from the University of Phoenix.
