Mission Springs Water District (MSWD) has earned the Platinum District of Distinction award from the California Special District Leadership Foundation (SDLF). This is the highest level of recognition for transparency and governance among California’s special districts.
MSWD is the only water agency in the Coachella Valley to receive this honor and is one of just six water districts across the state to achieve platinum status.
“This achievement highlights our district's steadfast commitment to transparent and open governance,” said Board President Ivan Sewell. “I commend our board, management, and staff for their dedication to providing clear and accessible information to the communities we serve.”
What the Platinum Distinction Represents
To qualify for this award, MSWD demonstrated:
- Public access to current financial audits, policies, and governing documents
- Verified ethics, leadership, and governance training for board members and executive staff
The platinum level includes all SDLF programs and reflects a comprehensive approach to excellence in district management and governance.
