President Ivan Sewell was appointed to fill the seat of the late Mission Springs Water District Director, John H. Furbee, on August 21, 2017.
President Sewell was born and raised in Desert Hot Springs and graduated from Desert Hot Springs High School. After receiving his Bachelor’s Degree in Visual Communications from Westwood College, he started a printing business with his wife Breanna.
He was appointed to the Riverside Flood Control and Water Conservation District by the late Riverside County Supervisor John Benoit where he continues to serve as a Commissioner.
President Sewell and his wife Breanna’s business, TOP Shop, was named the Desert Hot Springs Chamber of Commerce 2015 Small Business of the Year. An active Rotary member, Ivan serves on the Desert Hot Springs Rotary Board, and the Youth Service, Rotary Scholarship, and Community Garden Committees and previously served as the Foundation Chair. In 2022, the Greater Coachella Valley Chamber of Commerce and the City of Desert Hot Springs named him "Volunteer of the Year" for his many contributions to the DHS community.
