Mission Springs Water District is making final repairs to correct a water main break near Crescent Drive and 5th Street in Desert Hot Springs today.

Crews and emergency services responded to an early morning leak, caused by neighboring Tamarisk tree roots, to isolate the break and make emergency repairs. Water service has been restored and staff continues to complete backfill, restoration, and street cleanup activities in the impacted area.  At no time did the water pressure or water levels drop to a point that would require a boil water advisory.

Staff has been working closely with personnel from the City of Desert Hot Springs to clean debris from roadways and also help temporarily relocate displaced families in the area. Currently, five families have been relocated to local hotels while the District and officials work to determine the full extent of the damages.
