On Monday, November 18, 2024, the MSWD board and staff had the incredible honor of recognizing Jeff Nutter, our Superintendent of Field Operations, at the board meeting for an extraordinary milestone—30 years of service with MSWD!
In 1994 Jeff started as a Field Operations Technician I and worked his way up throughout the Field Operations Department to the Superintendent position he holds now, obtaining a Water Distribution Operator Grade 4, Water Treatment Operator Grade 2 certifications, and a California Class A license. Jeff has high expectations for his team and the work that they perform to ensure to provide the highest quality work within the district. Jeff's unwavering commitment, leadership, and expertise have been pivotal in shaping the success of the field operations team and providing safe, clean water to the community we serve.
Some highlights of memorable events Jeff recalls during his time in the field operations department include spending all day fixing leaks in the Desert City area off Worsley in the late 90s, pressure washing and cleaning the interiors of the reservoirs, working security at our sites throughout the district all night long after 9/11, helping expand the ponds at the Horton Plant, replacing a sewer main on Mesquite, a devastating main line leak the day after Christmas a few years ago, and something we never thought we would experience here in the desert, the damage incurred by Tropical Storm Hilary, remnants of Hurricane Hilary, and working almost 24 hours from home while he assisted (as much as possible) the members of staff that could make it to the district from all of the road closures, and working with the crews on the remaining effects, clean up, and repairs from the storm.
Thank you, Jeff, for three decades of excellence, dedication, and making a difference every day. Here's to many more!
