Mission Springs Water District recently announced its support for Vision for Our Water Future, a statewide initiative led by the  Association of California Water Agencies (ACWA) to advance a reliable, safe, and affordable water future for California.

The initiative brings together water agencies, business organizations, and labor partners to elevate water as a top priority for state leadership. Developed through workshops and member input, the Vision outlines practical, solutions-focused actions to strengthen California’s water system and ensure long-term resilience.

“We know that water is not a single-sector issue,” said MSWD Board President Amber Duff. “Water is the backbone of our state, it drives our economy, feeds our families, and supports every aspect of our daily lives. Continued investment is essential to ensure a resilient and reliable water future for generations to come.”

California’s water system faces growing challenges from shifting weather extremes, including more frequent droughts and floods, as well as aging infrastructure and increasing statewide demand. At the same time, local water agencies like MSWD are on the front lines of addressing these challenges by investing in infrastructure, conservation programs, and innovative water management strategies.

At the local level, MSWD continues to advance initiatives that improve water reliability and efficiency for its customers, including expanded water conservation programs and infrastructure investments that support long-term sustainability and resilience.

The Vision for Our Water Future identifies four key priorities to guiding state and local collaboration:

  • Leading on water by elevating it as a statewide leadership priority
  • Protecting affordability through sustainable and predictable funding
  • Delivering critical infrastructure to improve system reliability and resilience
  • Modernizing water management to enable efficient and science-based decision-making

Together, these priorities provide a framework to strengthen California’s water system so it can meet the evolving needs of communities, the economy, and the environment. On May 18, 2026, the MSWD Board of Directors formally adopted a Resolution of support for ACWA’s Vision, affirming the District’s commitment to working collaboratively with regional and state partners to advance reliable, affordable, and resilient water supplies.
