MSWD is dedicated to protecting our local groundwater supply. One of the most important ways we do this is by replacing septic systems with central sewer to treat wastewater in an environmentally sound manner. More than $25 million in local match funds through property-secured Assessment Districts (AD) and $25.5 million in state/federal grant funding has been spent to date, resulting in:
- More than 4,500 parcels made sewer service ready.
- More than 33 miles of sewer line installed.
- More than 11,500 additional Desert Hot Springs residents provided with wastewater service.
- 782 million gallons of sewage prevented from percolating into the groundwater each year.
MSWD continues to work to secure local, state, and federal funding to continue this important work.
