General Manager Arden Wallum has led MSWD for more than 18 years. He came to the position from the County of Inyo where he was acting Water Director.
Prior to his service in the Water Department of Inyo County, Wallum was a civil engineer in the Inyo County Public Works Department and from 1994 to 2002 was general manager of the Indian Wells Valley Water District in Ridgecrest, CA. Wallum holds both a graduate and undergraduate degree in civil engineering from South Dakota State University and is registered as a Professional Engineer in the state of Colorado. He has over 35 years of experience in the water industry, in both private and public entities.
Wallum’s experience with both large and small systems extends to almost every aspect of water and wastewater operations including collection, distribution, and treatment. As General Manager for WEB Water Development Association, Inc., he was responsible for a water system serving a 15-county area. He also has experience with advanced treatment processes and his experience leading an EPA water enforcement program for the State of Colorado provides a strong environmental compliance background. He has served on a number of technical advisory and standard-setting boards and commissions including being appointed to the Colorado Water Quality Standards Board and the Naval Weapons Restoration Advisory Board.
His professional and community affiliations include Rotary International, local Chambers of Commerce, the American Water Works Association, the Association of California Water Agencies, and an elected position as Director of the Indian Wells Valley Airport District. Wallum also received a gubernatorial appointment to the state fair board.
Wallum is married and has three children, Emily, Michael, and Alison. His wife Tina, recently retired from Eisenhower Medical Center.
