MSWD Serves Up One of the Best Waters in
the World!

Desert Hot Springs, CA – Mission Springs Water District's water is once again touted as one of the best municipal drinking waters in the world. The district was one of two recipients awarded the silver medal at the annual International Water Tasting Competition held in Berkeley Springs, West Virginia, the weekend of Feb. 24th.

This is the sixth such award for Desert Hot Springs' water — having received both the gold and silver medals in two prior competitions and the bronze medal once. Over the years, MSWD has received more awards collectively than any other entrant at this event in the municipal water category.

Randy Duncan, President of Mission Springs Water District, said "We are very proud of this award. The District works very hard to continually provide its customers with good, high quality drinking water. It is an honor to have this effort recognized on an international level."

Photo caption: Beautiful snowcapped Mt. San Gorgonio, and surrounding range, is the main source of water flowing into the Mission Creek aquifer. Snow melts and runs down the mountain into Mission Creek and percolates through the sandy soil to be held in the sand, rocks and gravel that make up the Mission Creek aquifer. This process takes about 7 years. Some aquifer replenishment comes from the Colorado River Aqueduct.
