Water rates are based on residential or commercial categories. Bills are issued every two months and are expressed in cubic feet. One cubic foot of water equals 7.48 gallons.
Service Charges
Service charges help to cover the cost of maintaining accounts, water lines and meters, and meter reading. They also cover the infrastructure related to water access. The one-month service charge for most residential customers is $5.99. Service charges are based on meter size and are listed in the chart below.
Lifeline charges:
Residential and commercial customers receive the first 250 cubic feet of water used in one month at no charge. This is a lifeline service.
Consumption Charges:
Water used in excess of the Lifeline amount is charged at the following rate
Figuring Your Water Bill: If you use 2000 cubic feet of water in one month, your water service and consumption charges
would be $24.76 and would be figured like this:
1 cubic foot of water is equal to 7.48 gallons. 100 cubic feet of water = 748 gallons.
