Some Of Our Local Water Issues Affecting The Environment

MSWD is responding to increased customer demand for water and sewer service through expansion of its water distribution systems and its wastewater collection system. It has completed several capital improvement projects, launched others that are moving toward completion and begun planning for more that are needed.

With this expansion and renewal of the District's infrastructure comes construction, in the form of underground excavation and the laying of pipeline. That means detours and traffic disruption are likely to happen. Currently active construction projects are listed below.

AD12 Area L - Construction begins Nov. 5, 2007
This project will expand the wastewater collection system in Area L, a part of the Dos Palmas neighborhood.

Mission Springs Water District will begin construction of sewers for Assessment
District 12, Area L, Phases 1 and 2 in the Dos Palmas area starting on November 5, 2007. The contractor will provide door hanger information cards to Area L residents as it progresses along individual streets within the project.

AD12, Area L, is bounded by Dillon Rd. to the south, Palm Drive to the west, Avenida Manzana to the east, and Camino Campanero to the North.  View a map of the Area L construction area.

Construction for the sewer lines, along with the remainder of the water lines, will occur from November 2007 until June 2008. The abatement of septic tanks in Area L will occur from April 2008 until December 2008.

The contractor, Desert Pipeline, will also be constructing new water lines in this area for the Dos Palmas Water Line Replacement Project, Phase 2, using the same construction timeline.

At the completion of the construction work in Area L, Phases 1 and 2, the District will have sewered approximately 1200 parcels and abated over 750 septic tanks at an estimated cost of $8 million.

Please note that as the District completes its work in replacing water lines, constructing new sewer lines and abating septic systems, all of the streets within Area L, Phases 1 and 2 will be repaved.

The area next in line for sewer line construction is determined by where the need is strongest, based on a 10 point evaluation process whch examines criteria such as housing density, the condition of existing systems, and proximity to the water table. View the 10 Point Evaluation Chart.
